Yes, it is possible. I installed XAMPP (OSX edition, not VM) 8.2.0 on my MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon.

We downloaded the xampp-osx-8.2.0-0-installer.dmg package and wanted to install it but it failed requiring Rosetta.
I am not sure of the exact details of "beforehand", because I already had Rosetta on my mac before installing XAMPP 8.2.0. It may be that the installer itself requires Rosetta, in addition to XAMPP components requiring Rosetta. Are you

If you need to install Rosetta on your Mac, may be helpful for you. According to that note, the alert box which tells you that the software requires Rosetta, also offers to install Rosetta. Did you see that offer? Did you push the "Install" button or the "Not Now" button?
