I tried to edit the httpd.conf and the httpd-xampp.conf. Removing the # where necessary. Every time I try apache doesn't start in the control panel and I have to uninstall and reinstall camp. Stressing. Any other way?

Apache tells exactly why it cannot start, either in the error.log file or as output if you try to start the binary directly.
