xampp windows 8 the connection has timed out

Hello to all expert,
I'm facing really a weird problem.


That above image ensured that xampp is working properly.



The above image ensured that ports are uniquely assigned.

I have configure the skype as recommended. Windows hosts file has the ip mapping for localhost. But when I'm trying access localhost in browser it is saying "The connection has timed out". I have tried with other ports like 8080 and 4433 but no success.

So what I need to do to run localhost in browser.

Please let me know if you need any further info to debug.

Instead http://localhost/ please try http://127.0.0.1/ and tell us what happens.

Actually I forgot to mention that. I used that http://127.0.0.1/ but same failure.

OK, based on your information this could be either a security software problem or a ip stack/winsock problem.

Do you run any security software like firewalls, malware protection suits, etc? If yes, can you temporary disable them to test if your problem fixes?

To reset both, ip and winsock in your system set the following commands in an administrative command line:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
netsh winsock reset
