XAMPP Control Panel should show XAMPP version.

XAMPP Control Panel should show XAMPP version.
So that we can check "What version I am running now".

Firstly, we never check our scripts with all new versions of XAMPP.
So we forget "up to what version of XAMPP" we had tested and installed in our PC.
Yes, I know, adding a few lines into our scripts and deleting them afterwards or maybe checking a particular file, we can know them.
Yes, that's right, but..........

Secondly,
We sometimes install two versions of XAMPP in one PC
(using different folder names like "C:\xampp7_4" and "C:\xampp" (meaning old version)),
so that we can test both new and old versions of PHP or other components and compare the difference between them.

We can change from one XAMPP to another by using different XAMPP Control Panel (stopping all services in one Panel and starting in another).
(We cannot run two http servers in the same time.)

But we sometimes forget "What version I am seeing ?".
Particulaly when the appearance of two XAMPP Control Panels look similar or completely the same.

Yes, I also know, adding a few lines and deleting them after checking .........but.......

In both cases,
it is very useful that XAMPP Control Panel shows the XAMPP version, isn't it ?

There are multiple ways to read out the XAMPP version.

First of all the xampp version matches the included PHP version number, so if you are using PHP 7.1.12 the XAMPP version is also 7.1.12.
You can check the PHP version for a running XAMPP Apache by executing the PHPInfo Page from the XAMPP Dashboard.
You can also check the PHP version by executing php -v in the XAMPP shell.

There are some files having the xampp version number too, like \xampp\install\.version or \xampp\readme_en.txt
We don't provide any support via personal channels like PM, email, Skype, TeamViewer!

Thank you for your quick reply kindly containing some hints, Altrea.
I had already known and considered some ways such as "echo PHP_VERSION;" or so.

But still, I feel usability of showing version on the Panel
because it's the most convenient way for users.

PHPInfo Page is too big and needs reloading (F5), and
executing php -v in the XAMPP shell makes us spend more time
although checking Panel spends just one window change (Alt + Tab).

But I also know that this issue is not urgent because this is not a bug and just a request for future version.
So the developper team members don't have to hurry.

I have been using XAMPP since the version was 1.7.4 (PHP version was 5.3.5 ? I think) and will be using more because it's very useful.
I appreciate XAMPP developpers team very much.

Thank you for taking my suggestion on Forum and I hope the team will be developping XAMPP for years.

Actually, i cannot find any use, The Xampp "version" is only an artificial number, does not tell anything about the contents (with the exception, that since a couple of years it relates to PHP version). But there is no usefull information, as Xampp is only a name, nothing else.

All tools coming with Xampp do have their own versions (Apache, MySQL, PHP etc.) and if there is any need to know any version number, its the version of the included tools. It is quite important to know if you are running Apache 2.2 or Apache 1.3 (for example), but it is totally unimportant if your Xampp release is 1.8 or 7.2.
