You have a XAMPP?
--> XAMPP uses the file "my.cnf" and not "my.ini".
I orginally installed XAMPP 1.6.0a with the installed.
I added the information via WinMySQL admin panel. However this only gave me the possibility to save to my.ini.... and there wasn't much inside.
However, when I uninstalled the service and reinstalled it using the batch files, the next time I went into the WinSQLadmin program, the file had inreased in size and information. I made the settings to appropriate [mysqld],[mysiamchk]... and the "new" file said somehting about copying this to .../xamoo/mysql/my.cnf.... Previously I had also tried this, but it was as "empty" as the "my.ini" file. So instead I opened the file, and editied the same contents... After rebooting, I could see that the value had changed from 4->3.
... and now, if I create a new file, it can find those 3-letter words... however it doesn't find the old files.
Any ideas how to this to re-index?
BTW: Thanks for the help... most of which was pulled off another enquiry.
