just done a fresh install and when setting up security at http://localhost/security/xamppsecurity.php I get "FORBIDDEN FOR CLIENT 0.0.0.0"

I just got bitten by this one as well.

It's a confirmed bug in Apache 2.2.4. (Apparently only affects Win2K, not XP+)

There's a workaround listed on their tracker, but I've also heard that particular workaround causes memory leak problems. Consensus is downgrading Apache to 2.2.3 for the time being apparently.
