How to upgrade from 1.5.0 to 1.6.0?

Postby tormu » 01. March 2007 18:02

I can't find an upgrade package for an older version of the Xampp for Windows, so how would you think the upgrading would be easiest?
My main consern is to upgrade Apache, because I've suddenly had a lot of problem with Apache.exe getting stuck with 99% CPU load (for > hours), and I'm running XP and have had this xampp version for over an year without problems. Can't think of anything else cause the logs don't report anything unusual either :I

Depends on the installer method, I used the 7zip.

I'm trying to update without losing any settings or data - just copying everything over the old files and folders doesn't seem like a good idea

Depends on when kind of changes you have made. You can extract the files to a location of your choice and examine what is there and cross reference the changes.

I've used 7~zips all along and never had a problem, I think that when major releases come this could be a problem to work threw since there will be config files updated but I've had no problems so far. 8)
