Apache wont Stop!!

Postby alainn » 28. February 2007 00:45

I have installed XAMPP on XP and the installation went fine.

However, when I open the XAMPP control panel, Apache is running and clicking on the Stop button has no effect. I can start/stop MySQL.

Also, when I try to go to http://localhost it tells me "Page cannot be displayed" as though Apache isn't running.

I had an older version of XAMPP running yesterday but needed to upgrade MySql so I could install Moodle - so I reinstalled XAMPP (first I uninstalled the old XAMPP).

Is there something I should/shouldn't be doing? Any help greatly appreciated.

Go to start -> run -> type cmd and click ok.
At the command prompt type: NET STOP Apache if that gives you an error try NET STOP Apache2.
Once apache has stop go to your XAMPP Control panel and un-tick the checkbox next to Apache and then re-tick it.

Apache won't stop!

Hello WorldDrknss

Thanks for your reply. It seems to have worked as I can now get to http://localhost and do what I need to do there. :D However, on the XAMPP control panel, Apache is still showing that it is running and clicking on the Stop button makes no difference.

Thanks for you help.
