New Linux, Windows and Mac OS X versions of XAMPP

Postby Oswald » 19. February 2007 10:09

The first XAMPP release of 2007. ;) Updated in all three XAMPP versions: Apache 2.2.4, PHP 5.2.1, PHP 4.4.5, MySQL 5.0.33 and phpMyAdmin 2.9.2.

Get the downloads and more details on the specific XAMPP project page.

which version should i install? NOT INTEL!

Postby sergi bosch » 20. February 2007 23:37

i'm not running on intel. i am running os 10.4.8, however.

i notice the latest version says "intel only". but the notes on the Source Forge page don't indicate if they are intel downloads or not.

also, on the sourceForge page, it's not listed as tar 0.6.1. rather, the latest is listed as 1.6.tar. So, it seems that the download on the "Welcome to xampp for os x" page doesn't match the top-listed download on the SourceForge page.

can you direct me to which download of xampp for mac os x (non-intel) i should download?

thank you!

Dear Sergi!

Since XAMPP for Mac OS X 0.6 we only offer Intel versions and we don't support PPC Macs any more. Our PPC Mac crashed last year and we were forced to switch to Intel.

Where do you read 1.6.tar? The Linux and Windows version are the only "final" versions of XAMPP, both are 1.6. But the Mac OS X version is still beta and it's version number is 0.6.1. (Maybe a little confusing. I'm sorry.)

Many greetings

my mistakee

Postby sergi bosch » 21. February 2007 19:55

from the page that says "Welcome to XAMPP for Mac OS X", there's a link to "A complete list of downloads (older versions) is available at SourceForge.
There are none yet, but there will be." i followed that link and thought i was looking at the versions of Xampp for mac. now i realize it was for Linux. that's where i saw 1.6 tar.

thanks for your quick response.

Congratulation for the new release! ;)
I just have little suggestion:
Now XAMPP work on Windows 2000, 2003, XP. Can you add Vista? My friend uses it and he couldn't use XAMPP anymore after upgrding from XP... :( I hope you could because i will be the next who will upgrade my Windows... LoL (I use XP Proffesional)

Vista?

Postby MikeFloutier » 25. March 2007 18:16

Hi,

I just replaced my broken Pc and the new one has Vista. So far I can't get Xampplite to work.

Will there be an update?

Thanks

Mike

Dear Friends!

I just bought a new Vista notebook and tonight I'll hand it to Kay, who's the main developer of XAMPP for Windows. Since he's a very smart guy, I'm confident the next release of XAMPP will be Vista-ready. ;)

Many greetings
Oswald

PS: Thanks to all donators, who made it possible to buy the urgently needed notebook.
