i have changed the document root in apache how do i get phpmyadmin to work again

If you only have changed the DocumentRoot, there is nothing special to do for phpMyAdmin. It stilll works.

what yes but because the document root has changed phpmyadmin is no longer there there what files do i need to move to get this to work

Not possible, because phpMyAdmin is not located in the original DocumentRoot directory. Thus, if you change your DocumentRoot, it makes no difference to phpMyAdmin.

Maybe you have changed more then the DocumentRoot in the XAMPP configuration?
