Problem with Connection

Hello, I'm a new user with Xampp and I'm currently using Xampp 1.5.5. My problem is that some of my p2p downloader is not working properly after installing Xampp.

I'm using Ares 1.92 and it seems to be disconnected frequently after installing Xampp. I tried disconnected Xampp Control Panel but the problems still occurs and I noticed that my connection has drop slightly after installation.

Are there any chances that either Xampp or MySQL or PHPAdmin might be using some of the ports on background without user knowledge?

Please if anyone could help me with this.
