available listening ports

After failure to start messages from Apache advising no listening ports, I tried changing the Listen:80 line in the Apache/conf/httpd.conf file to 8080 and now it fails with the following message... : make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:443 no listening sockets available, shutting down. Unable to open logs.
I have looked at my active ports but I do not see where port 443 is doing anything. Any suggestions (other than forget this stuff and try knitting)? Thank you!!
