Hosting my domain...

Hi,

I'm new to XAMPP and I was wondering, is it difficult to get everything hosted on my own server ?

I know that installing XAMPP is easy... But it is easy to get own domain poiting my server and being able to create subdomain and setting up email server using my domain ?

I know it's as easy as learning how to search these forums as the subject has been discussed in detail many times before.

If your native language is not German then you have to select the English forums:
Search Options >Forums >XAMPP for Windows
Search Options >Category >Apache Friends in English

Do some reading - have a go - then if you get stuck post back with your errors and issues and someone will take a look and suggest some answers.

Thanks for the quick reply, and my question was just "is it easy", I didn't ask for how to do it, don't worry I know how to search forums...

I tried other things in the past, like setting up a Ubuntu box with VMWare and trying to follow a tutorial to get me my personnal "web server" but it didn't work, I'm currently looking into some alternatives on how to do that more easily, so that's why I asked if with XAMPP it was easy.

So why not answer the original poster question here for the benefit of all forum members and readers who might be searching these forums for a similar solution?

Quite simple Izzy. I've found out recently that godaddy.com has made it much more difficult so the answer for each host may be a lot different. The problem is, I only have access to a certain few domain providers but I'd be happy to try to help anyone with this issue. Sorry if I got on your nerves by this somehow. That wasn't my intention.

You don't get on my nerves, especially when you only post here so infrequently.

My preference is for open forum discussion not closed within a private message, except where a security risk may be implied by disclosing some sensitive data on the open forum.

Also, I see no mention of Godaddy or any other domain registrar in the original or subsequent posts in this thread.

Setting up XAMPP for external domain usage, even for Godaddy, has been covered on these forums. A search, as I pointed out, would have been most helpful to the original poster and the generaleralised question that was asked.

BTW maybe you should ask Kai to kindly update the team page with your details, as your avatar implies your are on the team but I don't see that on the page:
