Apache instalation in XAMPP

Postby murr0171 » 02. November 2006 06:00

Hello,

I am new to this server thing. I have had a webpage hosted for me but now I want to run my own server. However, I can only forward the website or direct it to a new DNS.

So, the question is, did Xampp setup a DNS server when it installed Apache?

And if not how wouls I go about doing that?

Which reminds me, I was trying to turn the virtual hosting on but the commands were not found. What directory are they in, or do I have to go through Xampp to change Apache?

Thanks,

As far as i know Xampp does not have a DNS server, what i'm using is http://www.zoneedit.com They let you set up to 6 sites up for free and i've had no problems with them so far.

As far as the virtual server look in
Code: Select all
/opt/lampp/etc/httpd.conf /opt/lampp/etc/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf
Those two config files should ahve everything you need.
