Postby hddctr » 03. October 2006 22:32

i've got a server set up and running with 1.51 (easiest installation ever, no problems) and its running good, never had a problem with it but i wanted to upgrade hardware and software so i set up a new computer and installed the new version of xampp on it... heres my setup:

old computer:
dynamic dns
my isp blocks port 80 so im using myaddress.com:8000
linksys router pointing 8000 to 192.168.1.101
computer address is set to 192.168.1.101
in the httpd.conf i have:
Listen 8000
ServerName localhost:80
everything is working great.

new computer:
dynamic dns
my isp blocks port 80 so im using myaddress.com:8000
linksys router pointing 8000 to 192.168.1.111
computer address is set to 192.168.1.111
in the httpd.conf i have:
Listen 8000
ServerName localhost:80
i can view the default page localy only.

ive tried to just copy the old httpd.conf to the new computer but then apache wont even start. what am i missing?

any help would be great i really want to get the new server up and running.

thanks

Code: Select all
Listen 8000
ServerName localhost:80

You must use the same port with both directives.

ive tried to just copy the old httpd.conf to the new computer but then apache wont even start. what am i missing?

Start Apache with the batchfile and read the error message.

BTW:
can view the default page localy only.

What happens remote?
