MySQL databses and usernames/passwords

Postby fogga » 21. September 2006 11:46

Everytime I install a script that needs database access, how do I setup one up to use a different password?

Also when changing my main MySQL username where od I change it? I did have a file open yesterday with some info like username/auth type/password but I cannot remember where that was.

Use phpMyAdmin for setting up your databases and in phpMyAdmin the Privileges menu item will allow you to set a new user with a password for that user. You then give that user privileges to the database you want.
http://localhost/phpmyadmin

If you search the forum I have done a few posts with a detailed how-to set up databases and user/pass for each database. Can't remember the actual posts but they are not too far back.

Your main mySQL password for user root is set using the Security menu in the main XAMPP Welcome pages.
Then select this link from the security page:
http://localhost/security/xamppsecurity.php
to get to the Security console MySQL & XAMPP directory protection.
