Is the build directory/config_vars.mk available?

Postby bkbelton » 20. September 2006 21:46

I would like to be able to install DSOs on my own. At present it seems to require the presence of files in an /apache/build directory. I see that is not included in the developer addon. Is this possible, or is there another way to compile DSOs in xampp?

See error:
-----
checking for dynamic Apache module support... cannot open C:\usr\xampp\apache\build/config_vars.mk: No such file or directory at /cygdrive/c/usr/xampp/apache/bin/apxs line 243.
--------

Thank you,
Keith (sorry my Deutsch is more unstable than my system) :?

Not sure what you are trying to do here but I think you are trying to do a proceedure for a *nix installation not a Windows installation which is somewhat different.

cygwin on win

Yes - I am using cygwin ( *nix emulator) on WinXP - I am trying to use modules that are not included in the XAMPP build (mod_ruby, for example) and for which I cannot find compiled versions.

Sorry to bring this up again but I'm trying to do this exact thing...is it possible to compile a module on another system/cygwin and drop it into xampp's module folder. I'm looking to do it with this module.

How can I make a module I need to compile work in XAMPP for windows? Thanks, James

I found this StreamBaby link on the site you mentioned - I no nothing about the subject but I hope my links help a little.

StreamBaby looks like a platform independent Java implementation and there is a TomCat plugin available for XAMPP on the XAMPP for Windows home page.
http://code.google.com/p/streambaby/

These 1450 Google search results looking for a pre-compiled module look interesting.

I always feel that if it were me wanting to use something like this I would tend to imagine that someone somewhere has most likely already compiled this for use with a Windows Apache server, it's just knowing where and how to find one perhaps.

I hope my little contribution helps in some way.

Good luck.
