xampp on college network

im trying to get xampp to work outside of my college campus. i have both my internal and external addresses and the only open port thru the campus firewall, but i am only able to hit my computer from other computers locally on campus. i tried editing the 'httpd.conf' to Listen to the open port but it doesnt seem to help. Am I missing something? Any help would be awesome. thanks

Resolving IP addresses are also very important.
Did you check out the Virtual Host setup in xampp/apache/conf/extra/httpd-vhost.conf
