localhost problem after xampp uninstalled...

I just uninstalled XAMPP. I tested "localhost" to see if it was uninstalled correctly. It is uninstalled, yet, when I brows to "localhost", it forwards to "http://localhost/xampp/", although xampp is uninstalled. why would it still forward to this "/xampp/" directory, when it doesn't even exist? did XAMPP modify somethng in my sytem? Can someone please tell me how to fix this, so when I browse to localhost, it doesn't forward to this? Thanx!
