I want to install XAMPP on an Apple MacBook Pro laptop. I downloaded XAMPP for Mac, unpacked it, then typed the appropriate command into the Terminal. Everything apparently installed except Apache. Below is the text displayed in the Terminal:
Starting XAMPP for MacOS X 0.5...
XAMPP: Starting Apache with SSL (and PHP4)...
XAMPP: Error 1! Couldn't start Apache!
XAMPP: Starting MySQL...
XAMPP: Starting ProFTPD...
XAMPP for MacOS X started.
I thought Apache was supposed to be installed by default on a Mac, so I typed http://localhost into my Firefox browser anyway, but I just got the "Unable to Connect" message - "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost."
What do I do now?
P.S. Thanks so much for all the work you put into XAMPP. I've been using it on my PC for a year or two now, and it's fantastic!
