So when you type localhost in IE you get nothing?

What services are running?
What version of XAMPP are you running?

I don't understand why you need setup_xampp.bat

I have just done a brand new install and didn't use it... or are you adding Perl from the xampp site?

If so, I have problems with it and use ActivePerl from Activestate

Thanks for replying.
When local host runs I get the page saying that this page cannot be displayed.
I am running Apache and mySQL and FileZilla from XAMPP control panel Application version 2.3.
I am just trying to install Apache and MySQL and PHP for coppermine gallery that I wish to implement on my web site.
I hope this helps
thanks

If this is the first installation of xampp I would uninstall it all and delete any folders it created.

Then re-install and see if you can localhost before making any changes.

I know this is a dumb question and don't feel I am taking the P but:

You are typing localhost on the PC you installed xampp on aren't you?
And the services Apache and MySql are running ?

Sorry to ask such a daft question.

Let me know how you get on.
