Apache, MySql doesn't start

I am working with;

Microsoft Windows XP
Family edition
Version 2002
Service PAck 2
HP
AMD Athlon 64 Processor
3000+
350 MHz, 512Mb de RAM
Free disk space 27 GB

What I am trying to do is to work offline on osCommerce.

I installed XAMPP, with using the XAMPP Control Panel I try start Apache and and MySql.

ERROR: Apache service not started

Filezilla works.

Can I get help in this matter, thank you in advance.

Start Apache with "apache_start.bat" and look at the error message.

MySql doesn't start

See above (but use "mysql_start.bat").

When I start Apache and Mysql, the way you discribed (in my browser), it doesn't do anything at all. It only indicates "looking up......."

I reinstalled Xampp, but no better results. Further I tried everything I possible could do, but no results.
I am getting nervous now.
Is there anyone who can help me out?
