newbie - can't open MySQL Monitor

Help!!!

I am new to both PHP and MySQL, and Apache Server.
I have installed Exammp1.53a on to a home pc using windows 98
It allows me to go into the Exammp control panel, and start apache and mysql.
They both show as running.
I can access http:\\localhost and open any PHP files I have created.

My question is!!! How do I go about getting the MySQL Monitor to open.

Any help will be appreciated.

MySQL Monitor,
Not sure exactly what your asking so here are things you can try, and hopefully one of them will answer your question.

1.) http://localhost/xampp/status.php.
2.) Click on Admin next to MySQL in the xampp control panel.
3.) http://localhost/phpmyadmin

By the MySQL monitor, I mean the black Dos screen where you enter in the commands. Is that not where you need to get to to be able to enter code into MySQL?

???Or should I just use phpMyAdmin

Please let me know your recomendation

You mean mysql - The MySQL Command-Line Tool
a) open command.com
b) "cd \xampp\mysql\bin"
c-1) "mysql -u root"
c-2) or: "mysql -u root -pyourpassdword"
