Problems with purchased certificate

Postby jhirsch29 » 04. April 2006 21:17

I had xampps working fine with the default certificate and the default ssl.conf file. i purchased a cert from go daddy and followed their instructions on installing it, generated the csr, created a key file, then copied their crt and ca_bundle.crt file to a directory on the web server. then i changed the ssl.conf to look at those three files:
SSLCertificateFile /opt/lampp/etc/ssl.crt/helpdesk3.crt
SSLCertificateKeyFile /opt/lampp/etc/ssl.crt/helpdesk.key
SSLCACertificateFile /opt/lampp/etc/ssl.crt/ca-bundle.crt

stopped and started lampp with no problems but when i go to the https:// site, i get an invalid certificate that is looking to localhost with an orginization of Apache Friends. Any ideas as to what may be wrong? i've rekeyed the file and regenerated a new cert with no luck.
thanks in advance for any assistance.

and a different problem

Postby jhirsch29 » 05. April 2006 14:36

i found that the httpd.conf file was pointing ssl to another conf file, etc/extras/httpd-ssl.conf. when i made the certificate changes in that file, i get the following when trying to start lampp:

XAMPP: Starting Apache with SSL (and PHP5)...
XAMPP: Error 1! Couldn't start Apache!
XAMPP: Starting diagnose...
XAMPP: Sorry, I've no idea what's going wrong.
XAMPP: Please contact our forum http://community.apachefriends.org/f/

not very helpful, but that's what i get.
