Apache does not start...

I have installed xampp but when I run start, everything runs except apache. All the logs are empty except error.log which contains the following:

[Thu Mar 09 11:30:10 2006] [crit] (14)Bad address: mod_rewrite: Could not set permissions on rewrite_log_lock; check User and Group directives
Configuration Failed

Which user and group directives need changing and what should they be changed to? Thanks for your help!

I have exactly the same problem. I'm trying to run Xampp on a Mac with an Intel chip. Could that be the cause of the problem?

I tried the link above and made that edit, but the same problem occurs. Same error in the log, as above.

I have a Windows XP installed, fyi, although I don't think that would get in the way of anything.

Any other ideas?
