anti-virus recommendation

anyone have any recommendations of which AV software to run? i've read a bunch about various conflicts and i'm wondering if there is one that is conflict free.

I use antivir (www.antivir.de/en/index.html) on all my PC's. One of those came with Norton pre-installed, but I experienced too many conflicts. With antivir everything is running smoothly again.

free is good. but when i look at the website it only refers to a 30 day trial. am i missing a hidden link a la AVG?
