ERROR CONNECTING PHPMY ADMIN TO MySQL SERVER

HI ALL:

I have successfuly installed XAMPP for windows. However, my status shows MySQL as deactivated. I received this error " Error
MySQL said: #1045 - Access denied for user 'pma'@'localhost' (using password: NO) "------when I clicked on the phpMyAdmin to access it.
i checked the password in config.inc.php and set it correctly. Can anyone let me know how to fix this?
BTW b4 i installed XAMPP for windows I already had MySQL installed on my windows PC had a password set as "apax1mys&*" to access it.
Do I need to uninstall the previous version of MySQL to get things working properly? Who is user pma?

This is to let you all know that I fixed the problem myself without uninstalling my previous version of MySQL.
XAMPP IS THE BEST MIRACLE FOR THE SOFTWARE WORLD!
