Can't find LD.so?

Postby aprather » 28. November 2005 17:08

Hi,

I'm running XAMPP on Solaris 9 (Alpha processor) and I can't get it to start properly to save my life.

Both apache and proftpd fail to start because they can't find .so files.

I set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH in /etc/default/su to where my SO's live. In my case I used the pkg-get package installer, so they live in /opt/csw/lib which is what I set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to.

when I start XAMPP I get two errors, both "Error 137"

apachestart.log reports:
> cat apachestart.log
ld.so.1: httpd: fatal: libiconv.so.2: open failed: No such file or directory

What can I do to make sure apache and proftpd find the .so files?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think the Alpha processor is supported, only Sparc.

Sorry I meant sparc. I hadn't had my coffee yet that morning.

My last resort will be to copy the .so files over or sym link them if the path info is getting ignored.

I STILL have yet to solve this problem and it comes down to not finding the shared object stuff.

Use the forum search. There was the same question with answer some months before...

SOLVED!

I found out that XAMPP or apache don't respect the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable the way I had installed it nor does it look in /lib. Therefore I simply put symlinks to the lib files in my xampp lib directory using (from my xampp lib directory) ln -s /wheremylibsare/* .

XAMPP is awesome! But it could use a solaris installer/checker script perhaps with error checking and to look for config pitfalls.
