lampp won't start

Postby amador » 27. June 2005 20:49

hello...

i guess i'm doing something terribly stupid, because although i installed without problems lampp, i'm not able to start it. this is what happens:

[root@herman lampp]# lampp
bash: lampp: command not found

i installed lampp in /opt, and am using a copy of red hat 8

thanks!

Hi,

try following the documentation!
To start lampp you have to enter:

/opt/lampp/lampp start

The FULL Path!

Or if you're already in /opt/lampp, do a ./lampp start

Hi,

this can cause Problems though!
Please always do it as we have put it the documentation.
We do have our reasons to write them you know ;)

Just out of curiosity, why would this cause problems?

Code: Select all
# cd /opt/lampp
# ./lampp start

Hi,

we have had quite a couple of people that have had problems that way.
We have never been able to solve it nor find out why.

This is why we put it in the documentation with the full path and not relative.
It is also easier for a Linux "Newbie"... because most forget the . (dot) at the beginning or simular.
