That sounds like your ISP is rejecting it because the From address isn't on their list of allowed senders. This might be set in the bulletin board scripting, but is more likely from the php.ini file (which is in a non-standard place in Xampp - probably in c:\apachefriends\xampp\apache\bin )

First, try changing the setting in php.ini. Open the file, and search for "sendmail_from" (without the quotes). If that address is "admin@localhost," change it to your own address. If the scripting is doing what I think it's doing, this will be used for the envelope address - the one that your ISP is rejecting mail on - but won't change the From: address inside the message (which should be whatever is set in your scripting settings.)

If that doesn't work, try setting the admin address in the setting to your own address and see if that works.

I'm using an older version of PHPBB, but this should be fairly close. If you log in a admin, there should be a link to "Go to Administration Panel" (it's at the bottom of the main page on my version).

Once you're in the admin panel, there should be a menu for General Admin, with a link to Configuration. Somewhere on that screen (at the bottom, on mine), there will be email settings. Change the Email Admin Address to your own address.

T20041130 093914 41aba2c7 MAIL FROM:<postmaster@localhost>

Change this to an real email address, You will possibly need to do this in the PHP and and configs,

this way works, but I havent got a clue how to do it with mercury. how ever postcast server works and its 10 easier than mercury to set up (lots less hastle)

This should produce a black DOS box. Type in

ipconfig /all

and it should produce some info on the screen. Towards the bottom, it will list the DNS servers (probably two). Let me know what those are.

If you're not running XP, let me know what version of Windows you're using.

In the Start menu, go to the Control Panel. Go in to Network and Internet Connecitons. Go in to Network Connections. If there's more than on icon, you'll need to figure out which one is the network card you are operating on. Right click on that, and click on Properties. Double click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) (it will be at or near the bottom).

Towards the bottom of that screen, There will be a radio button labeled "Use the following DNS server addresses." Make sure that is selected, and put the DNS addresses you got from ipconfif in to the two boxes. (That would be 168.126.63.1 and 168.126.63.2). You shouldn't have to reboot, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to.

Hi, taustin. Thank you.
In my case, NIC DNS get assigned automatically.
So I set mercury with,
Domain Name
Site IP
Machine Name

I think all the 3 aboves are enough for mailserver.
