Problems with the Linux version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

I have an instance of MySQL already up & running and do not want to mess it up.
Could someone advise me on how to install XAMMP without having to change the MYSQL instance?
Is it possible to do the XAMMP install WITH MySQL WITHOUT ruining or losing the current data? It wouldn't hurt to upgrade, but I don't want to have to change the current users or settings.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
it should be easy to just install XAMPP and not start mysql:
- Download XAMPP
- untar XAMPP
- Stop your MySQL
- /opt/lampp/lampp start
- /opt/lampp/lampp stopmysql
- Start your MySQL
finished.
XAMPP should be up and running except for MySQL.
XAMPPs MySQL should not start in future.
So long
