Getting started!

Postby ianjames » 04. April 2005 15:57

Hi, I have just installed the latest XAMPP for Windows XP.

I have managed to get Apache started (using the control panel) but if I
try to access http://127.0.0.1 (or http://localhost) I get "ERROR COULD NOT CONNECT TO REMOTE SERVER" in my browser.

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong ?

Thanks

Ian

[quote="keepsedge"]what control panel?{/quote]

the control panel that gets installed with the new version.

Best thing to do is ignore the control panel and install both apache and MYSQL as services you can do this by locating the installservice bat files in the sql folder and apache folder.

if you then need to stop the service you an do so with the control panel and restart as and when required. Also if you try to ru n xampp on windows xp corp you wont be able to keep the apache serice running
