Do you get an error by starting mysql? Which one? What says the error log?

Yes you can update to 1.4.12, but you should fix your problem with mysql first (my opinion).

i have this error:

ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/opt/lampp/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2).
I tryed to make a test but...it said mysql is already running and used by the port:3306.
I tryed to deconnect mysql of suse but without changes.

Thank you for your quick answer

Is it possible that you have mysql already installed by installing suse linux? You should stop the "suse mysql" and start the xampp mysql. Should work then...
