Hi everyone,
I am a newbie to Linux installed i think i successfully installed XAMPP but i am not getting a few errors

Starting XAMPP for Linux 1.4.12...
XAMPP: Starting Apache with SSL (and PHP4)...
warning: World-writeable config file /opt/lampp/etc/my.cnf is ignored
XAMPP: Starting MySQL...
warning: World-writeable config file /opt/lampp/etc/my.cnf is ignored
warning: World-writeable config file /opt/lampp/etc/my.cnf is ignored
XAMPP: Starting ProFTPD...
XAMPP for Linux started.

I am running XAMPP on a windows machine on my network aswell and changed the ports to 8080 on my Linux server will this work correctly running two versions of XAMPP? If not what is the best way to do it as i can't seem to get my XAMPP welcome screen up with http://localhost :(

Also any help changing the file permissions aswell would be great thanks :D

Hi,

1. the apachestart.log would be intressting
2. chmod 644 /opt/lampp/etc/my.cnf
3. are you sure you installed it the way we wrote it on the Download Page?
Because I don't think so.

So long
