[XAMPP 1.4.9, Win2000]
At
http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html#522 , there is a comment "Without MOD_PERL, starts and stops are faster. "
I added the xampp-perl-addon-1.4.9.exe addon, because I need some of the additional Perl files. But I don't need mod_perl, and would like to disable it, if that will speed up Apache starting/stopping. Is commenting out this line in apache/conf/perl.conf sufficient?
- Code: Select all
LoadModule perl_module modules/mod_perl.so

Commenting-out the above line caused an error when Apache tried to process the following PerlRequire directive. I think that the file perl.conf is only needed for mod_perl, so I commented out the line that includes that file in apache/conf/httpd.conf, and that seems to work as desired.
- Code: Select all
#Include conf/perl.conf

Start the file "setup_xampp.bat" once more and select "disable mod_perl"

What exactly will that do? When I ran setup_xampp.bat the first time, I don't recall it giving me any choices to make.
