Problems with MySQL, or some values somewhere....

Postby Terje » 09. July 2004 00:38

I have now innstalled the xampp on my computer.
Everything is running proper accept MySQL.

I have installed phpBB2 on my server, and it's running fine as long as I run it on my own browser (the computer where xampp is installed on), but when I'm trying to get access from another computer I cant open the site.

I have tried to make an simple index.php in that folder just to see if it showed, and it did so php is working great.

So the problem is when I'm entering the site from another computer it can't get access to Mysql to fetch the data, or even read.

I have tried to use port-values (like 3306, 443 and 80) to force it open with no luck.

So if someone could help me with this issue I would be greatful.

By the way: What's the different between xampp 1.1.4 and xampp 2.1?

I have downloaded the xampp 2.1 now, but will do nothing until further.
Maybe I should install v.2.1 instead? is that more stabel, and easyer to get the sql to work?

Which package are you installing, the Installer, zip or 7-zip.
What is your path to the htdocs directory?

I used this one: "xampp-win32-1.4.4-installer.exe"

And the path is: "D:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\"

Everything is working proper accept the MySQL on others computers.

I innstalled the phpBB2 from another computer on the network, and that worked fine until I hit the "Finished"-button.
Normally you get up a message that asks you to remove both "install" and "contrib"-folder, bit it didn't here. Errormsg: No pages found or something like that.

Hi,
I visited your site and ran the Apachefriends demo's no problem.
The MySQL data displayed so MySQL must be working fine.
It could be that phpBB2 is configured for the earlier Apachefriends installations which used drive:\xampp but which now uses drive:\apachefriends\xampp
Try the 7-zip version with just the drive letter for installation, it will then install into drive:/xampp
I am using the 7-zip version myself without any problems.

Using the addresses in your Sig I get page not found.
http://81.0.186.201/shop and http://81.0.186.201/forum

Entering http://81.0.186.201/ I go to the Apachefriends Splash screen
http://81.0.186.201/xampp/splash.php and here everything is working.

I am sure it is a path problem, are the shop and forum set as Aliases or are the directories below htdocs.

Shop and Forum is folders below htdocs, so there should not be needed to set them up as aliases.

If you go to http://81.0.186.201/ you will be redirected to http://81.0.186.201/xampp/splas.php as you said. But can open all the pages? F.ex. "Phpmyadmin"? If you do so you will see the splashmenu to the left, then phpmyadmin-meny in the middle, but where th elast page to the left should be you get page not found. That's what I get when I use another computer.

The path is correct, but in someway it can't get the info from MySql, and as you said, MySql is working...
That's why I can't find the problem. It might be something with the values in the "httpd.conf"-file, but I don't know where

Hi,
I ran phpadmin and as you say the databases are listed and accessible so MySQL is working OK, the problem is with displaying the .php files. Running phpinfo() displays the page briefly then it disappears.
Are you configuring the php.ini file in the apache\bin directory
There are two php.ini files in the setup, the one in the main php directory is ignored.
When I first installed xampp I was trying to modify the php.ini file in the main php directory and got nowhere, then I noticed the php.ini file in the apache\bin directory and once I had made my changes in that one everything worked.
