I recently installed Xampp for a course on Coursera it is giving me the following error what should I do.
PS MAMP is also required for the course so uninstalling it is out of question.

Problem detected!

7:54:05 PM [mysql] or reconfigure MySQL and the Control Panel to listen on a different port

Ask your course teacher.
If you need both, then you need to change the configuration of one of them to use different ports, and that can have a huge impact for understanding your course.
We don't provide any support via personal channels like PM, email, Skype, TeamViewer!

You cannot run Xampp and MAMP both, its the same software package and they are using the same ports, what does not work. Changing ports is not always an option. Its on you to decide which software you want to keep, which one not.
