Problems with the Mac OS X version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

Hello,
having difficulties with PHP. I am following a training site for PHP and running index.php results in the "Object not found error". After installing XAMPP....phpinfo does come up so does the phpmyadmin. I am having my sql workbench also installed but the mysql server is shut down. I am using the filename index.php which is located inside the practice folder which is in the htdods folder. The code is just to echo "Hello World".
any help appreciated.
