XAMPP-VM Mounted drive creates readonly

Postby Octal » 18. February 2019 11:52

Hi,

I'm trying my best to embrace xampp-vm, but I'm stuck on trying to use it on with non-admin user of my computer. For some reason I'm not able to drag and drop files to any folder in htdocs folder:

Yes, it has 777 perms, in fact the folder is being created, but with 044 permissions so when it tries to copy the files inside the folder y fails.

any ideas?, I'm starting to plan on building my own amp for Mac OS right now... Can't understand the point of a whole VM, and after that having all these issues.

And why didi you install Xampp VM? Simply install Xampp (without VM).

Now is the default option, I've been using the "simple" for years, and I wanted give it a try, but seems nobody recommends it's usage and I'm getting desperate, I mean, no file system integration, no plug-and-play (even the PHPMyAdmin is broken by default), and now I'm unable to drag and drop file (somehow if I create a folder it works well)...

Installing the xampp-VM is fine. Its recommended to use ftp to add files or install the add ons (wordpress, joomla) from a terminal instead of a GUI installation

Using Terminal, you can change mode of the vm-drive "lampp" to 777.
Then, you can copy or delete files as usual.
Be careful.
