Upgrading XAMPP on Windows?

Excuse a newbie question...
I'm currently running v7.0. If I upgrade to the latest version, do I uninstall the old one first and will I lose all my sql databases?? (Which I don't want to do!)

Yes. To change to a newer version you need to install XAMPP from scratch.

Yes. You need to backup everything you want to keep. Export your databases and copy your applications and files.
Copy your entire XAMPP folder too as second backup.
