Transfer MySQL-data to new PC and new NAS

Postby Duivleo » 18. August 2018 11:09

Hello,

I am new here and know not a lot re. Xampp/MySQL.

My old computer with Xampp, etc. died a sudden death. I recovered the Xampp data from the HDD using DOS-commands.
But now, I want to transfer all of the data to my new PC with latest version of Xampp.
I do not have back-up or export data.
I did copy one folder of the old database into the new Xampp/mysql/data folder and I do see this in myPHPadmin on the left hand side; but no data in there.
*Table doesnot exist in engine; was one of the eroors i see.
Is there an easy way to transfer the data into new Xampp ????

Eventually, I want to start logging the data (from wheatherstation) on my new Synology 118. So, probably I will have similar problems.

Can some-one help?

A picture of the folder I have; but do not know how to insert.
Basically, i have 3 files in the folder: db.opt , wsimport.frm . and wsimport.ibd .

Regards,
Leo

Hi,

Wouldn't it be easier to copy the while old xampp folder and bring the old installation running to export the data?

Best wishes,
Altrea

Thanks Altrea for your reply.
I did do that; but no go. Mind you: I made a very, tiny small mistake. (= forgot that my password started with a Capital-letter)
After all: installing all data is actually not that difficult:
- install new xampp on new computer.
- start xampp, phpmyadmin and mysql via control-panel. change all paswords to the original password as on original pc (Taking care of Capital-letters, grrrrrrr.)
- in new c:\xampp\mysql rename folder data to Xdata and folder backup to Xbackup; just in case.
- exit xampp completely
- copy the data and backup folders from the old xammp-pc to the new one.
- And Ta Da: it works.

(When logging data like I do: use corect IP-adresses.)

Now over to next job: trying to log data directly on NAS; I might be back for help.

Thanks and Regards,
Leo
( And I almost forgot: make regular back-ups !!)
