Post install error: line 37 for Win 10; PHP 7.1.8 & 7.0.22 v

HI,

I hope you can help. I am new to trying to use Apache XAMPP and Word Press, and no nothing about DOS. I installed XAMPP for Win 10; New version with PHP 7.1.8 & 7.0.22. An error occurs when I open the control panel (v3.2.2) - and click "Start" for Apache - text immediately below. I open it as as admin, then click "start" for Apache. If I do not open as admin, I also get the red lettering. Below the following text is the error portion of the DOS message that appears as well when I attempt to start using "xampp-start".

XAMPP now starts as a console application

Instead of pressing Control-C in this console window, please use xampp_stop.exe to stop XAMPP, because it lets XAMPP end any current transaction and cleanup gracefully.

Hi,

Please close all XAMPP components and execute the setup_xampp.bat file.
After that try again to start the components.

best wishes,
Altrea

Hi Altrea, thanks for your reply.

I am actually not sure how I received the error. But, uninstalled and reinstalled with success. It must have been user error.

Thanks,

The problem is very easy to explain. You get messed up with the paths.
This is a very common issue if you move an xampp installation, use the portable xampp version but not extract it to the default path, or use a drive letter dependend installation on a drive changing drive, or start xampp with different users where the driver letters can be different.

executing the setup_xampp.bat script will reset the paths and therefor fix this issue.
