404 redirect problem

Hopefully someone can help with this.

I'm running XAMPP 3.2.2 on a windows 2012 server.

I'm trying to get a 404 error to redirect to the home page but I can seem to get it working. I've opened the httpd.conf file and taken the # away from the ErrorDocument 404 line and put in the full site path including the http:// but when I do a 404 I still get the standard page.

Any help?
