Newbie Struggling Trying to Setup XAMPP for Windows

Postby ianhodg1 » 21. April 2017 12:28

Hi Guys

I am brand new to XAMPP, so I am right out of my depth!!

Could someone kindly assist me with the following questions?

1. I have found via Task Manager that it is the "NT Kernel & System" that is working with PID 4 and blocking Port 80.
Can I stop this so XAMPP will run? It sounds serious.
Can I use another port?

2. How do I get to have admin rights?

Here is the print out.

Thanks in advance for any help you can lend . . .

Cheers

Hi Newbie, I'm even newer than you because I didn't understand the first part of your question.
Did you figure out how to turn on Admin rights?
THanks for any help you can provide

Dont you know WIndows? (Obviously). Turning on Admin Rights is a pure WIndows issue (has nothing to do with Xampp or so) and means, that you right click (not left click) on an icon and choose "Run As Administrator.." in the dialog. I.e. not more difficult than switching on/off a PC....

I also am having a problem setting up the new version of XAMPP (7.0.15) and I am not that familiar with Windows software. I do not know or understand which 'icon' you are referring to? Would you mind give me a little more detail, please, would be appreciated.
