Postby inizia » 01. January 2017 18:08

Hi.. I am newbie on xampp. In any case I did install it ok, and I followed different source on YouTube before securing my password ..
I did insert COOKIE and the actual PASSWORD inside the conf.ing.php file which I saved.
After rebooting ... localhost/phpmyadmin it now gives error and can't log in..
What I did wrong??? What I do now??? Please HELP..
THANKS VITTORIO

Hi,

You didn't gave us any helpful specific information, so noone is able to help you.
The question is, why do you think you need to change/set a password?

best wishes,
Altrea

... what is nonsense. With "cookie" as auth type, you are ASKED for a password, but NOT for the password you put in config.inc.php (this password is not needed anymore when you have "cookie" auth type), but for the password as it is stored in MySQL Database. If you did not change MySQL Database, userid and password are still "root" and no password.

Forget all these horribly outdated Youtube Videos, these are wrong and you only are going to destroy your installation. There is no need to change any password and there is also a FAQ on Xampps site, dont use Youtube or other old tutorials instead.

Thanks U guys for your reply, i did just reverse engine the same file to default so now I can access my installation... and I decided that actually for my need which is private development and not public use I shall not need to secure it..

Thanks again much appreciated
