What to do my PHP website shows as HTML file in my browser?

What to do my PHP website shows as HTML file in my browser on my localhost, i just installed yesterday and was going through a tutorial and creating my first PHP page, but it's showing a plain HTML text instead of a PHP website as shown in the tutorial pic. I downloaded XAMPP and doing through this? What's wrong with me?
