update PHP on existing installation

Hi XAMPP users,

I recently have the latest xampp with PHP 5.6.X
I want to upgrade only the PHP to the latest 7.0.x (stable). Is this possible? and how? Thank you in advance and cheers!

Xampp is not designed to replace single components by the User (that is one disadvantage of Xampp, on the other hand all tools are nicely preconfigured to run out of the box).

Either do not use Xampp or install Xampp 7.0.9, this is like upgrading PHP to PHP 7.0.9, as all other tools are quite the same as in Xampp 5.6.x. Beware that there is NO upgrade procedure, you are responsible to backup/restore existing projects including all databases.

thank you very much. is there any tool available to make a division of my database. for example: if my db has 500Mb to divide it into parts 10mb each until i reach 500. uninstall existing xampp, install the new version and upload my parts of db.

Actually, i dont know any tools which are working under windows (your PC) and Linux (probably your Online server). I would look for "file splitter" or "upload database in chunks" in Google. I gave it a try and found a PHP-based solution (but did not try to run):

P.S.: If you like to "upgrade" from 5.6.x to 7.0, this is not an upgrade (or only a small step) for the database, so instead of running big exports/imports, it should be sufficient to simply backing up and restoring the whole "data" folder of MySQL (i.e. MariaDB).

You can also use the 'mysqldump' on the commandline.
