Problems with the Windows version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

Updating

Postby CassiesOak » 09. July 2016 22:17

I downloaded Xampp Control Panel (3.2.2) which had a bunch already with it including php, phpMyAdmin, maria db (don't know what that is). Anyway, I'm using it to work on a local site before going live, and so far things have been working. However, I ran into an issue with a quiz component that I believe needs the phpMyAdmin to be updated to 4.6.3. Is there a way I can do this without completely starting over? Thanks for any help and please, if you can, be very specific on "how to," as I am not much of a "techie." Everything currently is just on my laptop.

If you have another app that wants to use your phpmyadmin, you've got a problem.

I don't believe that your webapplication really needs a specific phpmyadmin version.
Much more common your app checks for a specific MySQL version. Xampp included MariaDB instead of MySQL, that is a problem for some prechecks.
We don't provide any support via personal channels like PM, email, Skype, TeamViewer!

I'm sorry, it is the database version--like I said, not too techy. Okay, so MariaDB is instead of MySQL (which is the database) and Altrea thinks that could be the issue (which may be correct). Is there a way to get a current MySQL also in the Xampp? Thanks for any help you can provide.

install an older Xampp. You will find all releases on Sourceforge.

I have looked all over for an older version of Xampp that has mySQL and the only thing I found was a note that both Apache Friends and SoureForge do not have easy to find links for the older versions :(. Can anyone send me a link to where I can download it? Thanks for any help.
