Apache doesn't start (changed ports and run as admin)

Postby Toto81 » 21. April 2016 10:26

I am a beginner in Apache and I am using Xampp. Yesterday I installed everything and it was working fine. Apache was running and I could access localhost on my browser. Today I wanted to start my Apache server again, but I got the error window that Apache HTTP server is not working. So I started Xampp as Admin (which I didn't have to do yesterday) and the window is not appearing anymore, but in the log file I get the same

So I found out that this may be caused by the usage of ports. Even though whether port 80 nor port 443 were used I changed them anyway to 8081 and 444. I thought it might be because I opened Skype yesterday for a short time so that there was something wrong with that (but I stopped the process before opening Xampp). But I still get the same error in the Xampp Console:

Code: Select all
09:20:33  [Apache]  Error: Apache shutdown unexpectedly.
09:20:33  [Apache]  This may be due to a blocked port, missing dependencies,
09:20:33  [Apache]  improper privileges, a crash, or a shutdown by another method.
09:20:33  [Apache]  Press the Logs button to view error logs and check
09:20:33  [Apache]  the Windows Event Viewer for more clues
09:20:33  [Apache]  If you need more help, copy and post this
09:20:33  [Apache]  entire log window on the forums

So right now I really don't get what is wrong here. When I start Apache on Xampp I get a PID for Apache for 3 sec and then it crushes.

I hope you guys can help me out here.
