What do I do about this Apache error

Postby Chiriel » 15. April 2016 18:26

httpd.exe: Syntax error on line 72 of C:/xampp/new_directory/apache/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load modules/mod_access_compat.so into server:
The specified module could not be found.

It happens every time I try to start it with XAMPP..

Please provide information to your correct XAMPP version
=> [Q&A] Insufficient debug information - base information (XAMPP version)

Did you install an XAMPP version over an earlier XAMPP version?

I couldn't find any other XAMPPs anywhere in my file explorer. Anyway, the XAMPP version I'm using is 3.2.2.

EDIT

Actually.. I'm using XAMPP Control Panel 3.2.2.
The actual XAMPP version is 5.6.19.
I believe that the start file type is exe.
The installation file's full name is xampp-win32-5.6.19-0-VC11-installer

My Operating System is Windows 10
64 bit Operating System/x64 processor
Home Edition
*Not sure where to find the service pack level

The installation path is C:\xampp\

I always run XAMPP as the administrator and when the control panel pops up it says that everything is fine. But when I try to start Apache it says that the system is attempting to start it, but nothing happens. When I go to the event viewer, the above error is listed.

Please take a look into your \xampp\apache\modules\ folder.
Is there a file present named mod_access_compat.so?

Then your installation is incomplete. Maybe there are other files missing too. You should reinstall XAMPP.

You could try to use a different installation method. If you were using the installer, maybe try the .zip or .7z version.
